Emergencies and out of hours contact:

Please telephone the practice number and an answering machine will give a details of the emergency number to ring. The local Primary Care Trust (PCT) is responsible for providing out of hours cover and there is also a clinic across the road from our practice at Newstead House, Bond Street, Wakefield for out of hours emergency care. Appointments may be booked at this clinic via NHS Direct. This clinic is open on Bank Holidays and weekends between the hours of 9am and 5pm. It is important to note that appointments here have to be pre-booked; it is not a drop in centre.

Cancelling and Missed Appointments:

Please give at least 24 hours notice when cancelling appointments. This allows us to allocate your time slot to someone else.

Occasionally, we understand that you will be unable to make your booked appointment as an emergency may have arisen. We appreciate this does happen sometimes. A history of continued failure to attend for booked appointments is not acceptable as it denies someone else the opportunity to be treated and we reserve the right to refuse future appointments to patients who regularly miss appointments.

 

Abuse of Staff:

Attending the dentist can sometimes be a slightly stressful experience for a patient and occasionally this can result in inappropriate behaviour towards staff. We always endeavour to provide the best service that we can and therefore would ask for your understanding particularly at busy times of the day. The practice has a zero tolerance policy with patients who verbally or physically abuse any of our staff. These patients will be refused any future dental treatment.

 

Any complaints?

We take your complaints seriously and we would prefer that you told us about any dissatisfaction rather than your friends. If you feel the need to register a complaint, you may do this verbally, in writing or electronically by e-mail. We will acknowledge your complaint within two days and investigate it within fourteen days. If this is not to your satisfaction, please tell us and we will have another look at the issues involved. If at the end of the process you are still not satisfied, you can contact Wakefield West PCT on the telephone number given on this webpage.

 

Confidentiality:

Your dental records are confidential and are viewed only by authorised members of staff for clinical reasons only. No information about you or your dental health is released to third parties without your written consent and a verbal confirmation. You have the right to view your records should you wish to do so.


Disabled Access:

Our practice is a ground floor building and wheelchair access is available using the removable ramps that we keep in the entrance porch.
